Project Overview
In 2019 I received the opportunity to work with the union county school district to come up with a new brand for two schools that would be merging in the 2019-2020 school year. The Sun Valley Spartans and the Shiloh Bulldogs each had a great school history and did not want to sacrifice that in the creation of the new mascot.
I was asked to develop a new mascot that would friendly but strong, and showcase both schools. The mark would later be used for branded school merchandise, school mural, website and anywhere else the school needed to brand.

In looking over this project I wanted to use primary colors that would by moderately-saturated with a few neutrals placed in the mix to offer contrast.
Logo development process
Original logos
First act nail down a style
To begin this project I quickly reviewed the existing logos and chose a style to work in. I gravitated toward the Spartan logo. The lines were clean and the mascot was colorful and approachable.
Final logo and mascot created
Once I submitted my designs to the school they were very receptive. After a meeting with the projects key stakeholders they came back with a few edits but nothing that really deviated from the initial design. I added in the two-toned shield to highlight that this would be for an elementary school and primary school.
